MEET TERRI THORNTON.
Terri Thornton is one of the few PR people with a background in TV, radio, digital and print media, and content marketing.
Her skills include strategic public relations, content marketing, social media, media relations and crisis communications. Clients include leading businesses, organizations and institutions including law, accounting, multifamily real estate, clean energy and other firms.
Speaking engagements include MarketingProfs B2B Forums, Social Media & The Law ICLE conferences, SoCon, the Legal Marketing Association, the Association for Accounting Marketers, the Georgia Center for Nonprofits, the National Arthritis Foundation and the Independent Counselor’s section of PRSA. She led a national webinar for news people transitioning to the business world.
She has won national and local awards for social media marketing and/or PR in competitions hosted by Bulldog Reporter, the Legal Marketing Association, PR Daily, the IABC and PRSA. She also won national and regional awards for investigative reporting, as well as documentary, series and newscast production at a series of top-rated stations. She spent 20 years in broadcast journalism. launching Good Day Atlanta – the nation’s highest-rated local morning show – at WAGA-TV in Atlanta.
A long-time contributor to MediaShift.org, she serves as a freelance editor for two prominent accounting publications. She also wrote a chapter on crisis communications in a “PR News” Guidebook.
She has served on the Board of the South Fork Conservancy, which is building trails alongside Peachtree Creek in intown Atlanta. For several years she was an active public affairs volunteer with the Red Cross, including social media strategy and implementation for the Atlanta chapter’s 100th anniversary celebration.
